The wistful look on the face of these whales immediately drew us in, and when these ceramic cups arrived they quickly took on the moniker of, "the sad whale cup." Despite the smaller size, this straight-sided, handleless, ceramic cup still has a nice heft and is a great choice for when you're feeling a little "blue."
When some people envision their perfect morning, they see themselves in the middle of a bustling shop, heavy mug in hand, basking in the noise and motion. Others imagine standing on the coast, gazing over the vast expanse of the ocean, in silence but for the waves crashing on the shore. Sipping intently, but pensively. This is the coffee cup for the latter.
We really enjoy the slighly woeful look of these "blue" whales. The design has a nice gradient of blues and whites with a bronze rim that we find very attractive. The sizing of this cup is perfect for people who prefer smaller amounts or who need an excuse to grab more frequent refills from the pot in the kitchen. The cup holds about 6.5oz to the rim, but we think 6oz (175ml) is a more practical, usable capacity. It has a nice heft while still feeling and looking pretty sleek. A pleasure to use.
