Product Overview
Full Cupping Notes

This decaf shows pleasantly dark-toned sweetness starting around City+, that carries over into more cocoa-laden brews at Full City, and even the beginnings of 2nd crack. The fragrance off the dry grounds had a convincing brown sugar note, with accents of drinking cocoa, and nut. The wet aroma showed hints of molasses, honey wheat bread, and other mildly-sweetened baked goods. The cup sweetness is a bit behind the scenes at first, but rises as it cools. Flavors started off with malty notes that unfold to hints of brown sugar and molasses, with savory-to-bittersweet notes, chocolate-covered nut, and tangy cocoa note. Full City roasts were showed more forward-facing bittersweet chocolate flavors, accented by notes of chocolate biscuit and raw nuts in the aftertaste.

Origin & Farm Notes

This is one of a few water process decafs we recently picked up to round out our offer list. We've really enjoyed the mid-toned flavors of City+/Full City roasts, and find it to be a suitable replacement for balanced non-decaf Central American coffee. This lot was sourced from farms in Mexico's Southern Chiapas and Oaxaca growing regions, with an altitude range of 900 to 1500 meters above sea level. The coffees were wet processed, and either dried on patios or in mechancial dryers. The coffee was then decaffeinated at a plant in Mexico who use a chemical-free water process that results in a flavoursome coffee without the caffeine. We also found it to be a very versatile decaf option in terms of roast level and brew method.
