Colombia El Virgel Carlos Emilio Chiroso

This Chiroso coffee is from farmer Carlos Emilio, in the town of El Virgel, Santa Barbara region of Colombia's Antioquia department. Carlos had been growing coffee for nearly 40 years when he was introduced to the Chiroso variety, a coffee type once thought to be a regression of Bourbon, but recently linked to being of Ethiopian descent. Perhaps more importantly, Chiroso has been a big win for farmers who can get their hands on it as it's known for high productivity and very positive cup flavors. Carlos's farm is called, Los Alpes, and has been under his care for 39 years. The altitude at the farm is 1850 meters above sea level, and he's planted most of that in Caturra, Chiroso, and Gesha. We were lucky secure three Chiroso lots on this latest container, and all three express the aromatic top notes and fruited accents that make this cultivar so special and prized.
