Origin & Farm Notes
This lovely Gesha coffee is from farmer Dón Fernando in Colombia's northern Nariño department. His farm, Finca Bella Vista, is near the town of Buesaco, a high altitude region known for coffee production. The town itself sits at the top of a 2000 meter spine, with a main road that travels right down the center. The street is a bustling marketplace for vendors and restaurants, and every block has at least one coffee buyer. Farmers like Luis Fernando harvest sell their harvested coffee in town to local associations who offer both cash payments, typically followed by a quality premium. All this competition keeps coffee prices high, but the coffee from Buesaco is worth it! Don farm sits at 2050 meters above sea level and is planted in a few different varieties, including Gesha, an exotic variety of Ethiopian origin that carries elegant florals and aromatic sweetness. The delicate aroma shows best when roasted light, and we recommend sticking to City roast level, and no darker than City+.
