The Bonmac dripper is an upgrade to the classic plastic Melitta filter cone. The single-hole design reduces the margin for inconsistency since the brewed coffee drains slowly. It is durable, easy to clean, easy to get a great cup, and a simple well designed new classic filter cone. Pairs well with Melitta #2 filters.
With all the new types of filtercones that have come along, especially the ones with large holes for the brew water to escape into the cup quickly, I start to appreciate this classic-style filtercone.
If you can't master the technique required to get anything close to a good result from the Hario V-60 or the Bonmac V-60 clone, or if the idea of mustering up such a technique at 7 AM on a Saturday morning is unappealing, here is your answer.
You still want to rinse your filter with hot water, as you pre-heat the ceramic, then "pre-wet" the grinds with a minimal amount of water for 30 seconds. After that, you can slowly pour hot water until the correct ratio of water and ground coffee is met.
You can still get great results without a fancy pourover kettle and this humble Melitta-type cone beat all our other drippers in 2 different double-blind pour-over brewing tests. Use with Melitta #2 filters.
