Roasted Coffee Color Card
This reference card for roasted coffee color is an inexpensive tool to help determine the degree of roast. It's a visual aid for home roasted coffee, and works best with ground coffee samples. The back of the card has handy reference photos of whole bean coffee, using the SCA roast color number scale, approximate roast temperatures and weight loss percent.

Judging roast color can be as simple as having a color reference, or vastly more complicated such as using a color analyzing device. We wanted to come up with a low cost color reference card people could use as a standard to compare roasts. Other such reference materials exist printed using more exacting methods ... but they cost tens to hundreds of dollars. We think $3 is better! Our latest version 4.0 now adds Roasted Coffee Weight Loss % to the chart on the back.
