Product Overview
Full Cupping Notes

City+ roast level is a good place to start, but La Argentina holds up to 2nd Crack too. At City+, the grinds had a honey wheat bread scent, with notes of barley malt and bittersweet cocoa. The wet aroma offered some semi-sweet chocolate notes, along with herbal-accented sugars. The cup is pleasantly mild, with mid-toned flavors of semi-sweet chocolate and tarry burnt sugars that connect to bittering cocoa in the aftertaste. As it cools, a subtle suggestion of dried fruit brings out a soft acidic dimension, and hints of buckwheat and green herb mark the finish. Full City+ roasts are intensely low-toned and on the bittering end of the spectrum, roasted cacao nibs, baking chocolate and hints of dark-roasted grains. It's a profile perfect for milk drinks and made for espresso.

Farm Notes

Origin & Farm Notes

This lot is a blend from small producers in La Argentina town, within Colombia's southern Huila department. The coffee is grown between 1600 and 1900 meters, and most of the farms are planted in a mix of Caturra, Variedad Colombia, Castillo. The last lot we bought from this group had a fruit-forward cup profile, due in part to the long fermentation times they implement. It's very common for farmers to ferment their coffee for 3-4 days, which can have a pretty profound impact on the cup. This lot is much more straightforward, built on bittersweet, mid-toned flavors. It's made an excellent dark roast brew, and will work great as espresso too.
