One of the easiest ways to improve the consistency of your coffee roasting and coffee brewing is to use a scale. This coffee scale is a great modestly-priced option that we use in our lab. It’s great for weighing roast batches, dosing roasted coffee for brewing, and the timer makes it a great brewing scale as well.
The generous 3000 gram capacity means this scale will work for weighing green batches on a range of roasters, even the large 1kg Aillio Bullet. The excellent capacity also means that heavy ceramic pour-over brewers like the Origami Dripper and high volume immersion brewers like a French press are not a problem for this scale.
While the scale powers on quickly, is responsive, and looks very sleek, the touch controls do have a bit of a learning curve. The scale displays to the nearest 0.1g, but we found during internal testing that there is an accuracy/precision variance of ±0.5 grams. That is only a difference of a few coffee beans, certainly not enough to throw off your roast or ruin your brew.
