Stainless Steel Filter Set for Aeropress

The Aeropress doesn't really require any upgrades. The stock paper filters are inexpensive, work well, and a stack of them lasts a long, long time. But I was excited anyway to check out this reusable stainless steel filter. The filter set comes with two filters: a simple stainless steel disk, and a wire mesh filter for a cleaner cup with less sediment. What I noticed was that it produced a clean cup, without too much sediment that can distract from the cup flavors and add bitterness in the aftertaste.

(There are some very insignificant solids found in the bottom of the cup, but nowhere near as much as a French Press, or coffee brewed with Swissgold brand filters).

What I liked was the increased body in the cup, and in many cases an overall greater coffee intensity. I had to make my grind slightly coarser to work with the steel filter, and had to apply a bit more pressure when plunging the Aeropress. This filter is hassle-free, easy to wipe clean and re-use. Be sure the wash it out before storing so coffee doesn't clog the holes.I am pretty sure you will notice a difference in the cup flavor when you swap the paper Aeropress filters for the stainless steel version.
