We have some scheduled site maintenance to take care of, so our shopping cart will be down for about an hour starting at 6am PST on Wed. 10/17. You can still window shop...you just won't be able to buy anything until around 7am. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for your patience.
Rulindo is a great dual-use coffee, thick body, tartaric acidity, and complex chocolate notes. Spiced in the middle roast ranges, notes of apple and grape come out as the cup cools. City+ to Full City+. Good for Espresso.
This coffee is from a cooperative in the Rulindo district, North Rwanda, not far from Kigali. The cooperative sits at great altitude, above 1800 meters, and operates as a catchment for some of the highest farms we've seen (Bourbon all the way up to 2100 meters). As a cooperative, they run a tight ship, with assistance provided from an outside group who helps with business as well as agronomical support. They are very transparent too, and take much less than half of the price we pay to cover the cost of expenses (a small deduction when you factor the cost of milling, transportation, export, etc).
Rulindo cups great in the middle roast ranges, and makes a great espresso option as you pass Full City. The dry grounds of City+ roasts are quite spiced, cardamom and clove, exude a nice raw sugar smell. The wetted grounds have a nice raisin and cinnamon bread smell, backed by a solid brown sugar scent on the crust and in the steam on the break. The cup has a sweet, and spiced cocoa flavor, along with a nice tartaric/grape-like acidity. Towards Full City shows a nice apple flavor as the cup cools, peeking through complex roast/cacao nib tones. A bodied brewed coffee, this is also a fantastic option for espresso.
