Brazil Fazenda do Sertao Catuai
The cup has a nice clarity in light roasts that distinguishes this from other Sertao selections we have had. The body is huge, I almost want to call it sticky, the way it clings to the palate. There is a classic nutty Brazil roast tone (hazelnut, macadamia) turning more toward cocoa powder in the darker levels, at Full City roast. City+ to Full City+.

Brazil Sertao Carmo de Minas

Brazil Sertao Carmo de Minas
This is one of the cleaner and sweeter Brazils we have cupped from the higher ranks of Specialty preparation this year. Light roasts have a transparent honey sweetness, hazelnut-toasted almond roast tone, and a pleasantly tea aspect in the finish (green tea/ assam). The darker roast levels we did for espresso shots also cup really well, and make a nice brewed cup. Full City has toasted graham cracker with rich bittersweet chocolate, and dark caramelized sugar sweetness. City+ to Full City+.
South America

Brazil Fazenda Sao Benedito

Brazil Fazenda Sao Benedito
Malted milk chocolate, sweet caramel nougat notes and a hint of fruit peeking out, low acidity makes this a great backdrop/base coffee for an espresso blend. Lighter roast levels have less thickness to the mouthfeel, but have a nice nut-honey character. There are suggestions of peach and pineapple as the cup cools. City+ to Full City+.

Sweet grains are definitely front and center in the cup with toasted sesame seeds, malted barley, and a note of gen ma cha tea. The coffee has a silky mouthfeel, full body, and with a pleasing touch of raw honey. Dark roasts have chocolate roast tones, burnt sugar, and a smell of pecan pie. This coffee has a clean finish, with a note of orange pekoe tea. Great SO espresso. City+ to Full City+ roast.

This lot of Carmo coffee has a fairly basic cup profile, but definitely makes for a solid brewed coffee. Light roasts have a transparent honey sweetness, and with a note of toasted grain that is reminiscent of umami tea. The finish is definitely tea-like and has a touch of orange pekoe. Full City has rich bittersweet chocolate, and dark caramelized sugars. City+ to Full City+.

Brazil Fazenda Monte Verde

$7.30

Brazil Fazenda Monte Verde
In the cup, this Brazil has a clear sweetness and tea-like mouthfeel at City/City+, while Full City roasts showcase juicy fruits and a syrupy body. It's a pleasant cup along the roast spectrum with notes of raw almond, and stone fruits like peach and nectarine, especially at Full City. The acidity is lively like mandarin oranges, and the sweetness is akin to date sugar. All in all, this lot from Fazenda Kaquend brews so well and will make a great single origin espresso. City to Full City.

Brazil Carmo de Minas - Fazenda Kaquend

$5.90

Brazil Carmo de Minas - Fazenda Kaquend
The cup is delicate and light roasts have an orange-like flavor, with butter cookie and praline providing a mild overall intensity. As it cools, more mild citrus notes emerge along with green tea and a light caramel flavor. Full City roasts have dark fruits (think plum and fig), bittersweet chocolate characteristics and with a defined, but gentle citrus acidity. This is a bodied coffee that makes a great single origin espresso, or would provide great mouthfeel and sweetness to an espresso blend. City+ to Full City+.
