Kenya Nyeri Peaberry Kieni

$6.15
Out Of Stock
Kenya Nyeri Peaberry Kieni
Kieni Coffee Factory is part of the Mugaga Society, who produce the great Kagumoini and Kiamabara coffees we have offered this year. Light roasts have dynamic citrus bright notes, lemon, with a twist of rind, a momentary lime sensation, tangerine juice, and pineapple in the aftertaste. It's a bracing, bright cup with a dry, tea-like finish. Darker roasts have a piquant passionfruit taste, and dark brown sugar sweetness. Overall, the Kieni strikes a superb balance between lively citrus notes and sweet, mature fruit. City+ to Full City+ roast levels.

Kenya Nyeri Gathaithi Peaberry

$5.95
Out Of Stock
Kenya Nyeri Gathaithi Peaberry
Gathaithi is a small town in the Mathira subdistrict of Nyeri. The cup is an interesting blend of Kenya cup characteristics, bright citrusy notes, rindy aftertaste, winey dark fruits, and a touch of sweet Meyer lemon. There's a nice Oolong tea character as the cup cools, with a pleasant dryness. City to City+ roast.

Kenya Nyeri AA Kiamabara

$6.90

Kenya Nyeri AA Kiamabara
A carefully harvested and sorted lot from one of Kenya's top cooperatives. Lively and bright with balanced ripe, sweet orange notes, moderate acidity, and a mulling spice blend (cinnamon, allspice, a touch of clove). Secondary layer of apricot, and as it cools a touch of pink grapefruit and mature meyer lemon. It strikes a perfect sweet and sour balance, with cane sugar and lemon juice evident in the aftertaste. City to Full City, but don't go beyond that or the origin character will be lost.

Kenya Nyeri Kiamabara Peaberry

$6.35
Out Of Stock
Kenya Nyeri Kiamabara Peaberry
Kiamabara is one of the "factories", or wet-processing mills, that is part of the Mugaga cooperative cluster. This coffee reads like a concentrated form of other Kenyas from earlier in the season, brighter, but with similar vanilla-like notes as well. Orange marmalade and apricot jam are the fruited sweet flavors in the cup, at City+ roast: black currant and darker fruits providing an underlying layer. Lighter City roasts finish with peach flavor and a light hazelnut tone. City to Full City roast.

Ethiopia Organic Shakiso Sidamo "Maduro"

$5.90
Out Of Stock
Ethiopia Organic Shakiso Sidamo "Maduro"
Maduro? This is a dry-process coffee where extra care has been directed toward harvesting only crimson-purple coffee cherries, a deeper red than the picking point for most coffee fruit. Expect ripe fruits, a "hushed" acidity (deep-toned acidity as a direct result of mature coffee cherry), winey character, heavy body, flame grape, plum (with a little plum skins), melon-like ripeness, and Syrah notes; this is a dessert coffee for sure. A slow development to City+ yields the ripe fruit notes, whereas heading toward Full City results in a spice and chocolate emphasis.

Ethiopia Wet-Process Jimma -Duromina Coop

Ethiopia Wet-Process Jimma -Duromina Coop
Amazing fruit juice sweetness, clean and crisp red berry, peach essence, lightly caramelized sugars, sweet grain. The body is light, complimenting the cleanly disappearing sweetness and fruit jelly flavors. This is a coffee that intensifies greatly as it cools. City to City+.

Ethiopia Jimma Wakito Madallu Cooperative

Ethiopia Jimma Wakito Madallu Cooperative
The cup works well throughout the roast range. Lighter roasts have jasmine floral notes, and Earl Grey tea. Plum-apricot is apparent as well, but as the roast approaches second crack, pleasantly bittering baker's chocolate dominates. City to Full City.

Ethiopia Organic Yirga Cheffe, Koke Coop
This is from Koke coffee mill (pronounced Ko-Kay), a part of the Yirga Cheffe Coffee Union. This coffee has amazing sweetness and brightness. The cup has sweet fruited notes, floral elements, and a silky mouthfeel. Peach nectar, apricot preserves, sweet mandarin orange, almond, passion fruit, tea, rose hips and hibiscus notes come forward as the cup cools. City+ highly recommended.

Ethiopia Gr. 3 Dry Process Yirga Cheffe

$5.95
Out Of Stock
Ethiopia Gr. 3 Dry Process Yirga Cheffe
Dry Process Yirga Cheffe is a rather new coffee. What you have bought from us in the past is Bagersh Misty Valley dry-processed coffee from the Gedio zone, Idido Yirga-Cheffe. This cup is fantastically fruited. Light roasts have apricot jam, hints of blueberry, passion fruit, red licorice, vanilla wafer cookie and anise. A bit darker on the roast and the fruits are more berry-like and juicy, with many of the lighter roast flavors still present to some extent. As it cools, lemony citrus comes out, or rather a honey-sweetened unfiltered homemade lemonade. City to Full City roast.

Tanzania Nyamtimbo Peaberry

$5.70
Out Of Stock
Tanzania Nyamtimbo Peaberry
A wonderful lot from the Southern region of Tanzania, this is a great, sweet, bright, clean cup. Light roasts have a juicy sweetness in the fragrance, partly apple-like, partly citric. Darker roasts have an intense chocolate and caramelized sugar scent. While I personally don't like dark roasts on Kenyas, I think it suits this Tanzania very well. Both light and dark roasts have a heavy, thick, creamy mouthfeel that is impressive, and something rarely found in Kenya coffees. Warming spice notes mark the higher-toned flavors in the cup, as well as muted malic/fruited acidity, pungency and bittersweetness that is imposing, brooding, intense, while dark berry notes emerge in the finish. City+ to FC+ roast.

Ethiopia FTO Shoye Sidamo WP Decaf

Ethiopia FTO Shoye Sidamo WP Decaf
This is the decaf version of our Shoye Union Sidamo coffee. We sent it for custom decaffeination and it came back great! It's a fantastic decaf cup, very sweet, caramel with melted milk chocolate notes, butter-rich body, mildly fruited layers of flavor. I found the creamy mouthfeel to be one of the most outstanding features. It sets this part from other decafs and other non-decaf Ethiopia coffees as well. I can't write caramel and milk chocolate with enough emphasis. I get these sweet notes all through the roast range. City+ to Full City roast.

Uganda Organic Bugisu WP Decaf

$5.85
Out Of Stock
Uganda Organic Bugisu WP Decaf
This decaf is from the same lot we offer as a non-decaf coffee, a nice Organic lot we happened across. This decaf cups a bit like an Indonesia coffee, and can take a bit more roast too. It's sweet and has a fairly burly and substantial aroma character. Lighter roasts had a mild milk chocolate note, and the dense body really jumped out at me. Chocolate notes dominate at FC+ roast, which was actually my favorite here. With hints of dark fruit in the background and a definite rustic hint to the cup, the aftertaste has a very nice, intense bittersweet chocolate character. It's a hefty, weighty coffee on the palate, something I don't find often in decafs from Africa. City to Full city+.
