I haven’t found another timer that you can turn off, saving battery. As for batteries the bad news is they don’t come with the timer. The Nostalgia is a good example of this style. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis glass chimney turns the so-called non-recommended type of air popper into a functional coffee roaster. “Non-recommended” type refers to poppers that discharge hot air straight up from a screen in the bottom of the roast chamber. By themselves, these poppers get too hot, too fast unless you roast a bigger batch and a bigger batch results in coffee beans getting ejected from the rop of the roast chamber. The addition of the glass chimney fixes both issues by allowing for larger batches while keeping the coffee rotating nicely in a vertical way. In fact, adding the chimney and roasting a larger batch could arguably agitate coffee in the roast chamber more effectively than the “swirling” type popper. But when we were checking out options for a thermometer that can measure 2 temperature points at once, it was a meat thermometer that stole the show. ThermoPro has great reviews, and the temperature range it can measure works great for coffee roasting. The 15 cm long metal probes are less sensitive than raw thermocouple beads, but are easier to postion and last longer! It's a well-built device, and the AAA battery is included to boot.
