Filtercone Brewing Video, Melitta Style …and Clever Coffee Dripper Video Too!

A 7 minute video about brewing technique in a ceramic filtercone for pour-over drip coffee. Not great quality, no edits, one take. But some good info.
An interesting footnote: If you have an acidic coffee, like a Kenya, and want to tone it down while maximizing sweetness, try brewing with 66-75% of the normal water (essentially overdosing the coffee) then add hot water directly to the brew to correct the strength. It’s an interesting experiment, and changes the perception of acidity and sweetness.

    ’tis the month of pour-over…

Have been seeing quite a few people’s blogs lately talking about the pour-over method.

Cool little video – some good info. I also liked your comment about reducing bitterness. This is something that I’ve been playing around with for a while too.

I’m a newby to this site/blog, but have really enjoyed looking around. You have some exceptional looking products!

Thanks – yes, I have been over-doing it on the pour-over videos lately. I think I am done. We have been offering pour-over since 1999, and in fact when you look at Chemex and the much talked about Hario V60, aren’t they so similar?

Yes they are all really the same thing aren’t they!

I see MAS from coffeehero is a big fan of your blends… I haven’t tried any myself yet – sorry! What would be your pick blend for mid-dark roast, good pick me up coffee?

    Thanks Thompson
