Sweet Maria’s Home Roasters’ Dream Camp

Today we are announcing our first ever Sweet Maria’s Home Roasters’ Dream Camp! The session will be held Saturday July 25th from Noon to 3 pm at our warehouse on East 21st Street in Oakland. This is not a class, but a gathering of home roasters, an occasion to compare roasts done on different machines, a chance to try out some new (or…er… new to you) roasters, cup coffee and share home roasting experience. More information and details on how to sign up for the camp, follow the link above.

We are also adding four new coffees today. Sumatra Organic Lampahan -Bonkawan Coop, with low acidity, raisin, fig and plum tastes. Next up is the return of Yemen Mokha Haimi, an aromatic cup from light to dark roasts; great also for SO espresso use! And lastly, we sourced some good decafs: Ethiopia Dry-Process Sidamo MC Decaf, with medium acidity, and sweet fruit notes and Nicaragua Jinotega SHG WP Decaf, a bright decaf with chocolate/malt at darker roast levels. The camp sounds like a blast. But did a mapquest and the result was 3026.59 miles, 45 hours 36 mins. driving time ;-(

Ditto, FarmRoast! Maybe we could charter a bus and sign up all those SM coffee fans…

Seriously, given enough advance notice, I could visit relatives in Sacramento, and co-incidentally visit the Sweet Maria’s “Plantation.” :)

We have another one tentatively scheduled. We will announce it when we know the dates for sure – maybe early Sept? -Tom

I just happened to run across the Home Roasters Dream Camp postings and as I read, my jaw was hanging open. “Whoa….”.

It’s wonderful that the folks at Sweet Maria’s opens their doors to the public. I can’t wait for the next one.

I humbly second the motion for early September.
