    In the local economy of Dire Dawa, it’s a good job, and one that brings in a second income to a household.

    It’s from the many-volumed Ethiopiques compilation of Ethiopia Jazz – Ethiopia / Addis had an amazing music scene in the ’60s and ’70s and still does – interesting hybrid of Western jazz and Detroit/Motown/Stax with traditional music forms. Can’t recommend Ethiopiques enough. There’s a “Best of” too… -Tom
