Five, Count ‘em Five New Coffees

El Salvador Matalapa -Tablon El Naranjo, Ethiopia DP Sidama Aleta Wondo, Kenya Nyeri Ngunguru, India Poabs Organic Seethargundu Estate, and Sumatra Gayo Mandheling. Now that Thanksgiving is behind us we are looking forward to a fun December of shipping coffee as fast (and accurately) as humanly possible. We are adding five great lots today from all over the world. El Salvador Matalapa – Tablon El Naranjo is from one of our favorite farms and this lot is cupping great with balance between brightness, flavor, and body; great as SO espresso. Ethiopia DP Sidama Aleta Wondo is a fruit salad smorgasbord with mango, passionfruit, and guava at light roasts, caramel and chocolate at darker roasts. Kenya Nyeri Ngunguru has candy-like sweetness, melon, peach, cran-raspberry juice notes, and intense brightness. India Poabs Organic Seethargundu Estate is a wonderfully complex surprise arrival that works at a wide range of roasts. Sumatra Gayo Mandheling is a classic rustic lot with bass-note profile and brooding character.

Roasted El Majahual and Alaga Sekala

This pairing features two outstanding lots:  El Salvador El Majahual – Tablon La Montana was roasted to Full City to highlight the hazelnut roast tones and maple finish, this is a balanced, classic bourbon.  We also roasted Ethiopia Limu Jimma – Alaga Sekala to City+ so you can really taste the jasmine tea and peach pie notes.  This pair will keep your taste buds interested for solid week, enjoy.

Celebrate Humpday with new CR, Bolivia and Kenya

Happy humpday, and what better way to celebrate than with three great new arrivals: Costa Rica Los Nacientes is a different sort of cup than our other CR’s with lower acidity and more body, there is a nice effervescence and nutty roast tones as well. Next up is Bolivia Beneficio Buenaventura Lot 45 a delicate and floral cup that works well across the roast spectrum. Finally, Kenya Nyeri Hill Estate Peaberry has bold intensity and potent brightness, this is a very small lot so there is a 2lb limit.

Roasted Rosma and Panama Garrido.

That’s right!  We are happy to offer our newest Guatemala offering: Huehuetenango Finca Rosma in roasted form.  I love grabbing a recent arrival like this and roasting it up in the Probat and this Huehue has many of the prized attributes cuppers look for: ripe cherry, red apple, and rose hints dominate the cup.  While you’re at it go ahead and grab a pound of the Panama Boquete Garrido Estate Lot 26-92, this cup is more balanced with rounded roast tones, cooked apple, and mulling spices…perfect for Thanksgiving!  We hope you enjoy these two roasted offerings, both were roasted to City+ to enhance origin character.

A fantastic Guat, Honduras COE, and second Imbachi lot

Check these three out: Guatemala Huehuetenango Finca Rosma, Honduras Cup of Excellence -Finca Ovidio, Colombia Finca Buenavista -Carlos Imbachi AA+. We are jazzed to add Guatemala Huehuetenango Finca Rosma perhaps our best Guat offering this year with floral notes, red apple, and cherry. Next our first COE in a while Honduras Cup of Excellence – Finca Ovidio a sweet, exotic, and lushly fruited award winner. And finally, I bet at least a few of you were bummed when we ran out of one of our favorite lots in a matter of weeks, well it is time to rejoice Colombia Finca Buenavista – Carlos Imbachi AA+ is our second arrival of this unique lot, with a slightly different grade but the same cup profile of sweetness and complexity. Keep the roast to City or City+ to really taste the origin character.

New Harar lot, Guat, and Washed Ethiopia

Today we are excited to add an outstanding trio: Ethiopia Harar Longberry, Guatemala Acatenango -Finca La Soledad, and Ethiopia Limu Jimma -Alaga Sekala. We just received a new Ethiopia Harar Longberry lot and this one roasts even more evenly, with fewer quakers, dried mango and cinnamon spice. Also, we are adding this year’s Guatemala Acatenango – Finca La Soleded which is a classic cup with vanilla malt sweetness, dense mouthfeel and stone fruit. Outstanding as SO espresso. Finally, Ethiopia Limu Jimma – Alaga Sekala represents the latest in our lineup of Wet Process Ethiopia lots, this one is a great combination of light body and refreshing jasmine tea notes, if you enjoy floral notes this lot is for you!

Roasted Coffee from PNG and Ethiopia!

This week are excited to offer Papua New Guinea Baroida Estate and Ethiopia Illubabor – Camp Cooperative as our roasted coffee selections.  Each year we eagerly await arrivals from PNG and this year’s lot from the Baroida Estate in the Eastern Highlands of the country has lush fruit, spice accents, and a light body.  We roasted this batch to City+ to highlight these unique origin characteristics.  The Ethiopia Illubabor is a great Wet Processed lot that can take a bit more roast so we’ve taken this one to Full City to accentuate the bittersweet chocolate tang but the roast is still light enough to let the lemon notes come through to brighten up the cup.  We hope you enjoy two great coffees from the other side of the world!
