Quick Overview

All Bodum Ibis kettles now ship for free.

These kettles are great for cupping sessions, and daily coffee brewing. They are remarkably fast at bringing the water to near boil temperature...perfect for French Press or clever type brewing where precision pouring isn't a huge factor. The heating speed is due to an oversized stainless steel heating element in the carafe. Once the water is ready to go, you have the convenience of the cordless feature. Well...there is a cord but the carafe separates from the base for service.  The heating element is encased in the base of the kettle and not exposed to water at all, so there is no issue with scale or other build-up. The switch lights up when the kettle is heating, and the connection to the base is very robust. The older model stood up to years of daily abuse in our cupping lab so this version is sure to be trustworthy.

The capacity is 57 ounces or 1.7 liters. Dimensions: 10.2 X 8.2 X 7.4 in.

As is typical of Bodum products, the design is really simple and smart. I recommend this highly for anyone who uses a type of brewing that requires near boiling water ---The aforementioned pour-over method with a coffee cone, coffee sock, French press, or even you Vacuum brewers out there. (Remember, coffee should be brewed with water just off-boil ...at 195-200°. By the time you take the Ibis carafe off the base and are ready to pour, your temperature will be good.)
