Compared to air roasters, drum roasters roast much slower, similar to how commercial machines and manual, DIY methods work. You'll find that roast times will be between 14 to 20 minutes, and within this range there's plenty of opportunities to control the profile of your batch. Drum roasters afford the roaster more control because of additional features, and a larger batch size due to power and scale.
This type of roaster allows the roaster to develop the body of a coffee while maintaining certain nuanced flavors, like aromatic florals and fruity brightness. Learn more about drum roasting in our Coffee Library.
