The AirScape does a great job at keeping your roasted coffee fresh. Any other solid-walled container will allow for a body of oxygen to sit inside until the CO2 from the coffee can push it out. Regardless of how much or how little coffee is in there, you can always push the seal down to the level of your coffee, reducing the amount of oxygen.
The top lid also makes a seal and has a one-way degassing valve. It's clear, but the opaque inner seal and restaurant grade 18/8 stainless steel walls keep light away from your fresh roast. It's top shelf dishwasher safe and has a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects. The Airscape website says that it's also good for brown sugar, cookies, tea, etc.
We stored coffee in a few different storage containers for a month and opened them up almost every day, simulating how one would open up a container each time they brewed coffee. Month-old coffee will taste pretty flat no matter how well it's stored, but the Airscape did the best job at preserving what was left of the flavor. If for some reason, you have to store coffee days at a time without opening the valve, the Airscape will do better at flavor preservation in comparison to other methods we have tried.
