The Esatto is a scale that attaches to your your Baratza Maestro Plus, Encore, Virtuoso or Preciso grinder. This allows you to grind precise dosages of coffee using real-time weight-based control. It's pretty easy to set up. All you need is a screwdriver to remove the back. Your grinder's power cord gets coiled under the Esatto's back panel and plugs into an internal outlet. A plastic piece holds the timer/on-off switch in the "on" position. Here's the link to the downloadable manual. If you are too cool to read manuals, just remember to remove the rubber feet from your grinder before attaching the scale. We wasted valuable time trying to muscle the two machines together because we skipped that step.
Now, unless you use the pulse button on the front of the grinder, the burrs will only be activated by the Esatto's control panel. Your grinds fall into a canister that sits on the Esatto's scale and weight determines when the grinder shuts off.
It remembers 3 different dose amounts.
Its footprint is 12 1/4" long by 5 1/4" wide and adds about 1" overall height to the grinder.
Keep in mind that the Esatto is just a scale that works with your grinder. It doesn't grind coffee.
