- August 15, 2014: A few more coffees hit the list before heading into the weekend. It's been a great year for Ethiopian coffees, and we're listing our first coffee from the west, Ethiopia Agaro - Nano Challa Cooperative, shows cleanliness and slight effervescence. Honey sweetness, mild citrus and florals, this is a beautiful brewed cup of coffee. The landed Ethiopia Gr. 1 Dry Process Yirga Cheffe Kochore cupped fantastic and stands out as being full of ripe fruits, at their peak sweetness, rounded out by mixed berries, sugar browning flavors, high percentage cacao, and even slight florals. A great dessert pour over! And last but not least, we've added a nice Colombia from the Huila Department. Colombia TImana de Huila is a great drinking coffee with balanced profile of raw sugar, subtle fruits, and slight cinnamon spice notes. This one makes a great SO espresso option too.
- August 13, 2014: Eight lots from Nyeri county unloaded at our warehouse yesterday, and we managed to get a few of them listed on our site just in time for the Wednesday "hump". We designated these first three based off their uniqueness from one lot to the next, as well as each being exemplary for their particular individual outturn. Kenya Nyeri Tambaya AA is a beautifully complex cup, with a multitude of fruit and tea notes, and bright citrus that cuts through across the roast spectrum. Kenya Nyeri Karogoto AB shows "classic" Kenya characteristics of citric highs and deep, brooding fruits. It's such a bodied coffee too, that makes a great dual use option. And finally,Kenya Nyeri Kagumo Peaberry shows flavors of fruit juice and tart berry, and a black tea note provides a nice mouth cleansing effect. We've been anxious for our Nyeri coffees to land, and are more than pleased with the landed cup profiles. Look for round two in a couple weeks.
- August 5, 2014: We're pleased to have a new arrival of Sumatra Lintong Sijamapola. If you remember from last year, this lot shows a "cleaner" side of Lintong coffee, still with rustic elements of green herb and sorghum syrup, but without musty, "off" notes you might find in wet-hulled Indos. Bold sweetness, body, and a a low acid cup - a great example of how delicious and unique Sumatra coffee can be.
